Promoting an early return to work for people recovering from injuries.

Better@Work is an ACC-funded partnership between ACC, Hawkes Bay PHO and Hawke’s Bay General Practices. It aims to support the injured worker in returning to their workplace after an injury.

Evidence indicates that injured workers will recover more quickly if they maintain normal routines, including contact with their workplace.

Access to Better@Work is initially through the injured worker’s GP who will provide a medical certificate which specifies the injured worker meets the criteria for the Better@Work programme.  The GP will refer the injured worker to the Better@Work Coordinator who will assist the injured worker to return to work safely in consultation with employer.

Better@Work is specifically aimed at workers who have sustained injuries, either at work or outside work, which results in the reduced ability to work in their normal employment.

You are eligible if:
• You are an injured worker
• Aged 16 years or over
• Live in the Hawke’s Bay District – Napier, Hastings or Central Hawke’s Bay
• Your GP is part of the Better@Work programme.

You are not eligible if:
• You have serious injuries e.g. sever traumatic brain injury, spinal cord injury
• You do not live in Hawke’s Bay
